Protect & Beautify Your Outdoor Space
Professional Wood Cleaning, Staining, and Sealing in Northwest Georgia.
Our Wood Restoration Process
Wash & Restore
We don't use damaging high pressure. We use a specialized wood cleaner to lift gray fibers, kill mold, and strip away old dirt, preparing the wood pores to accept new stain.
Prep & Sand
Once dry, we inspect the wood. We tap down loose nails and can lightly sand rough spots (optional) to ensure a smooth, professional finish that feels good under bare feet.
Stain & Seal
We apply a premium penetrating oil or water-based stain. This seals the wood from the inside out, locking out moisture and UV rays to prevent warping and rot.
Why Professional Staining Matters
Your deck is a major investment. Leaving wood exposed to the Georgia sun and rain will cause it to warp, crack, and rot within just a few years.
UV Protection
Just like your skin needs sunscreen, wood needs UV protection. Our stains contain UV blockers that prevent the sun from turning your wood gray and drying out the natural oils.
Waterproofing
Water is wood's worst enemy. When water soaks into wood, it causes swelling. When it dries, it shrinks. This cycle causes cracking. Our sealant locks moisture out.
Prevent Costly Rot
Replacing a deck costs thousands of dollars. Regular cleaning and staining is a fraction of the cost and can extend the life of your deck by decades.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Deck Staining & Restoration FAQ
Why do you prefer oil-based stains for new wood?
For new pressure-treated wood, we exclusively use Sherwin-Williams Oil-Based Stain. Oil-based products penetrate deep into the wood fibers rather than just sitting on top. This provides superior longevity, conditions the wood to prevent cracking, and offers a natural finish that won't peel like acrylics often do.
Do you need to clean the deck before staining?
Absolutely. Preparation is 80% of the job. We perform a comprehensive "wood restoration" process that includes applying a professional cleaner to remove mold and gray wood fibers, followed by a wood brightener to pH-balance the surface. This ensures the stain absorbs evenly and lasts longer.
How long does the stain typically last?
In the North Georgia climate, you can generally expect a quality horizontal stain (floorboards) to last **2-3 years**, while vertical surfaces (railings/spindles) can last **4-5 years**. Regular maintenance washings can extend this lifespan significantly.
How long do we need to stay off the deck?
We recommend keeping pets and foot traffic off the deck for at least **24 to 48 hours** after application, depending on the humidity. Furniture should not be placed back onto the deck for 72 hours to ensure the stain has fully cured.
Can you stain over my old stain or paint?
If the old stain is the exact same oil-based product, we can often clean and re-coat. However, if you have an old solid stain or paint that is peeling, it must be completely stripped or sanded down to bare wood before we can apply a penetrating oil stain.
What is the best time of year to stain?
We can stain year-round in Georgia as long as the temperature is above 50°F and there is no rain in the immediate forecast (24 hours before and after). Spring and Fall are the most popular seasons, but we successfully restore decks throughout the summer and mild winters as well.
